Sometimes we’re willing to go to extreme measures to get what we want. Once a month we’ll gather to discuss a book that centers women who show how far they are willing to go—to keep a secret, feed their dreams, or achieve success—and the impact that their choices have on them and others in their orbit. This club welcomes all to come and chat about fictional books that range from satire, black comedy, and existential horror.

West Seattle Harvest Festival
Sunday October 25th from 11:00-2:00 in the heart of the West Seattle Junction.
There is fun to be had in West Seattle during this year’s Harvest Festival. Chili cook-off, trick or treating at your local businesses, West Seattle High School marching band, costume parade and of course, local crafts and produce during our regular West Seattle Farmer’s Market. Come in costume (or not) and join in on the fun and be sure to pop inside the bookstore and check out our booksellers costumes-we love Halloween!

Friday Evening Author Event With Pam Houston
Join us for an evening with Pam Houston, author of Deep Creek and Cowboys Are My Weakness as she shares her new book Animals Taught Me Everything. Books will be available for purchase at the event and a book signing will follow.
This event is free but we ask that you RSVP so we can get an approximate headcount. Seating is limited but there is plenty of standing room.
About The Book:

UC Davis, cofounder and creative director of the literary nonprofit Writing By Writers, and fiction editor at Terrain.org. She lives at nine thousand feet above sea level with her husband Mike and a menagerie of animals (three equines, two canines, and an ever changing number of Icelandic sheep and chickens) near the headwaters of the Rio Grande.

Local Author Book Launch Event
Join us as we host local author Suzanne Crawford O’Brien for a special launch of her new book Climate Anxiety and Spiritual Resilience: A Guide To Kinship, Justice and Hope. All are welcome to join and the event will be followed with Q & A and a book signing.
About The Book
While climate change is often framed as an ecological, political, or economic challenge, I argue that it is also a spiritual crisis. Drawing on climate psychology, Indigenous knowledge, and diverse religious traditions, I consider why despair and overwhelm can impede action—and how practices grounded in community, relationality, mindfulness, and justice can help transform grief into courage and sustained engagement.
Rather than offering easy optimism, this is a framework for living with uncertainty while cultivating hope, resilience, and moral action. At a moment when climate grief is becoming increasingly widespread, it offers a timely perspective on how individuals and communities can respond without succumbing to paralysis or burnout.
