The pandemic has brought us many different ways to navigate traditional fundraisers for schools. Forced to get creative, we first offered virtual book fairs through our online shop and then we set to create a space right inside our store for families to stop by and shop all the while raising money for their schools. We have been fortunate to partner with some amazing schools here in the West Seattle area and that includes Arbor Heights Elementary who just raised close to $1000 for their school! It’s become quite a thing now for schools to think outside-the-box and we are right there with you! Below is some information regarding how to set up a school book fair through Paper Boat Booksellers.

THE SET-UP

  • Set-up a date for your book fair by contacting our events coordinator at bookfairs@paperboatbooksellers.com. We are fairly flexible when it comes to coordinating dates that work in the shop-exceptions would be November and December when we are right in the swing of things for the holidays.

  • We typically run our in-store book fairs for a week (Tuesday-Sunday) and at the end of the week we tally up the proceeds and split the profit with our schools.

  • Students, families and anyone else who would like to support your school, shop from our inventory during your specified book fair week and that can include any book or non-book items of your choice excluding Gift Cards. If we don’t have what you are looking for in stock, we are happy to special order it, however payment must be made during the week of the book fair for proceeds to be included-this usually means we will ask you to pre-pay for those books.

SPREAD THE WORD

  • Mark your calendar! Reach out to families and friends, local media and newsletter to let everyone know your school will be having a book fair at Paper Boat.

  • Let families know that when they purchase books through an indie bookstore, it not only benefits your school, it also keeps money in the community by shopping local.

B2B stands for Business To Business and we are proud partners with a handful of publishers who offer this great service for bulk gift orders for your business or organization. Let us do the work and keep your money within the community. Reach out to us via email at info@paperboatbooksellers.com and we will send over special pricing and the services B2B offers. Books really do make great gifts!

  • Books purchased through B2B are not for re-sale.

  • B2B is a great option for businesses and organizations purchasing books for employees, congregations, etc. (ie-PTSA of Summit Atlas purchased a bulk order of 1 title that were given as gifts to the first graduating class of that school).

  • B2B applies to orders starting at 25 books or more depending on the publisher. Discount pricing applies.
