Author Event: Kelly Brenner @ 6:30

  • Paper Boat Booksellers 6040 California Ave SW Ste A Seattle, WA 98136 USA (map)

Join us as we welcome local author Kelly Brenner, author of Nature Obscura and her latest book The Naturalist At Home: Projects For Discovering The Hidden World Around Us. Kelly will be discussing her new book and showing us some of the items in her own curio cabinet. The event starts at 6:30 and will be followed by Q&A and a book signing.

From Kelly Brenner, author of the PNBA and Washington State Book Awards Finalist Nature Obscura, comes The Naturalist at Home: Discovering the Hidden World Around Us, an illustrated collection of accessible outdoor activities for the aspiring naturalist. With 20 projects that bridge the gap between sophisticated science experiments and easy nature activities, The Naturalist at Home encourages careful curiosity in the natural world around us—from the backyard and beyond. Like Natura Obscura, Brenner’s latest work emphasizes that exploration can happen anywhere. Each project includes clear descriptions of materials and tools, step-by-step instructions, illustrations, troubleshooting tips, and several bonus activities to take projects to the next level. Delightful hand-drawn illustrations accompany every project to help naturalists visualize what they may discover. Hands-on exploration doesn’t have an age limit—and neither does The Naturalist at Home, which encourages the nature-curious of any age to discover new insight, joy, and appreciation for our ecosystem.
